Hurricane Glass from the Big Red Boat. (Premier Cruise Line) The souvenir glass, as used on the ship in the 1990's has the words "THE BIG RED BOAT" on both front and back.
The "Original Big Red Boat," built in 1963, first sailed as the Oceanic for Home Lines until 1986, when she was purchased by Premier Cruise Lines. It was there that she aquired the moniker the Big Red Boat I. (There were also Big Red Boats II through IV.) Premier went out of business in 200. Since 2001, she has been again sailing as the Oceanic, but now for Pullmantur, the Spanish line owned by Royal Caribbean. (The others - Big Red Boat II through Big Red Boat IV are no longer sailing, as far as we know.)
It is not clear if this glass is from The Big Red Boat I, II, III, or IV, as there are no markings to indicate which one. In any event, it commemorates a famous name that is no more.
